Cross-certified Course on Gender Analysis and Conflict

From August 23 to September 4, 2020, Afghanistan Public Policy Research Organization (APPRO) and the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) of Ruhr University Bochum (Germany) delivered a cross-certified course on Gender Analysis and Conflict.

Thirty-five (35) participants from government and non-government organizations, multi-lateral agencies, and academia were introduced to frameworks for conducting gender analysis of policy and development processes and ways in which gender-aware planning for interventions could be carried out in the complex conflict environment of Afghanistan and in light of the ongoing peace negotiations.

On successful completion of the course assignments the candidates will be awarded 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits by Ruhr University Bochum. These credits may be used by the candidates to receive exemptions from master’s degrees offered by European Universities.

This course was funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) as part of the NAP 1325 Monitor project (2017-2020) being implemented by APPRO.

The course was delivered by Dr. Saeed Parto, Director of Research at APPRO, under a partnership agreement between APPRO and Ruhr University Bochum.
